The Olympic games are very often used to take important steps in broadcasting technology. Colour TV was first introduced in the opening and closing ceremonies in Tokyo in 1964 and four years later there was much more colour tv coverage from the games themselves. These were mainly for Japanese viewers as hardly anyone else had colour tv in 1968. But there is no doubt that the Olympics were like a Kickstarter moment for colour.
Now in 2021, the public broadcaster NHK in Japan achieved a major milestone with their 8K Ultra High Definition TV as it presents the international spectacle to Japanese viewers on its BS8K (Broadcast Satellite 8K) channel in 8K.
Many commentators have questioned the logic of holding the 2020 Summer Olympic Games now in the middle of a pandemic. However the reality is that for most sports viewers on a global basis, they will be watching the events on a tv or tablet.
Getting really sharp visual images on your screen really needs to be backed up with really sharp sound from your speakers. A flat tv or tablet gives you really flat sound. A thin shape will only produce thin sound. What you need to get the full effect of the 8K Olympics is a STEENSSEN. Sharing a global event like the Olympics deserves a global sound experience that you get from STEENSSEN. It’s logical. Share it with the world.
