FAMILY HOME WITH A GREAT VIEW
A wonderfully challenging design for a couple of senior citizens. They owned the site in Denmark and they wanted to maximize the view. However the slope was quite steep, and the best view was from fairly high up.
委託人是一對居住在丹麥的銀髮夫妻，這個設計案可以說是極富挑戰性的專案。銀髮夫妻擁有這片土地並且希望能夠為室內創造最大範圍的室外景觀。但是，此處坡度很陡，可以望見的景色也很高。
A main requirement was that the whole home had to be at one level and with no internal stairs. A normal way to design a house for this site would be to step it up naturally as the house climbed the slope. However I decided to made it a good bit more extreme.
委託人的另一個要求是整個房屋必須處於同一水平且室內不要設置樓梯。一般建築師採用的方法多隨著房屋爬坡而自然地逐步加高。但是我決定設計一個更好且突顯地形特色的地標建築。
The house is also situated in an area of buildings which are all in red brick - so the material of the building spoke for itself. Another brief from the clients was that the house had to be "zero energy", so the insulation and ventilation system are such that there is no real heat loss and no real need for heating other than solar heat-gain.
由於這間房子周圍全部都是紅磚的建築，因此建築物該使用什麼材料不言可喻。客戶的另一個要求是：房屋必須為“零耗能”，因此隔熱和通風系統應確保除了太陽能以外，沒有真正的熱量損失，也沒有真正的加熱需求。
The column under the cantilevered living room area is large and carries a series of radiated beams in the concrete floor. However the line of the column is carried up and in the living room becomes a log-burning stove and above that, the chimney.
懸臂客廳區域下方的柱子很大，並在混凝土地板上以一系列輻射狀排列開。然而我把線條向上延伸到客廳裡變成了一個燃木柴的暖爐，再向上則是煙囪。
There is a delight in having a heavy brick building seemling hovering lightly in the landscape.
令人感到欣喜的是，經由如此極端創意設計，我們看到一幢厚重的磚砌建築似乎在優美景緻中輕輕地盤旋。
The project "Horizon Haven: An Elevated Abode for Pensioner Perfection" won the GDA DESIGN THINKING AWARD in 2023.
